Curriculum

Two phases and 3 levels

The total study program consists of a Level 1 foundation phase (years 1 and 2), an intermediate Level 2 ( Massage and Ancient Texts), and a Level 3 advanced and more clinical phase (years 3 and 4). The curriculum for the foundation phase, which also encompasses the entire program for ‘Nutrition & Lifestyle Counsellor’, has recently been revamped. For the advanced phase, an outline of the structure can currently be provided, and it will be further revised in the upcoming year.

For the first and second study year (Level 1):

  • The program is offered in a format of 20 days on-site + pre-recordings in the online learning management system.
  • The online learning management system contains a wealth of study materials in various forms, providing students with ample opportunities to deepen their understanding, self-test, and review materials multiple times.
  • Two days of ‘cooking in your own kitchen’ online are included.
  • A residential module of 4 days is part of the program.
  • The program includes a considerable amount of self-study hours, homework assignments, preparation hours, tests, and a thorough exam at the end of the year.
  • The program is offered in an integrated way, which means that all modules are content-wise connected and ‘build’ on each other;
  • Individual guidance is provided.
  • The material is consistently presented with real-life practical case studies.
  • A dedicated team of inspiring and experienced teachers will be available throughout the two years.
Details Level 1 – Year 1 (8 blocks, 35 ECT)

Our intermediate phase (Level 2):

  • These ‘intermediate’ Level 2 modules can be done parallel or subsequent to the year 1 and 2 program.
  • Both modules can be done independently of a plan to do Level 3, however, they are OBLIGATORY when planning to apply for Level 3 of the APS program.
  • One module is a 15 ECT Massage & Treatments program (on location, supported by LMS).
  • One module is a 15 ECT Ancient Texts (Ashtanga Hridayam) program (self-paced, online, supported by LMS).

For the third and fourth study year (Level 3):

  • This part of the program is currently under further development. In the next academic year, the last students will graduate in the current program as we have organized it so far.
  • The new setup focuses on allowing individual attendance of clinical theoretical modules with online support from the teacher, embedded in and supported by our extensive online learning management system (LMS).
  • In the new setup, students also engage in a more extended period of practice-oriented internships.
  • The Research Paper (thesis) in the new setup is closely connected to the aforementioned practice-oriented internship period.
  • The overall setup involves a combination of pre-recorded classes, online contact moments, ‘intensives’ with practical education, and experiential learning for several months in clinics and practices in India and/or the Netherlands.
  • The teachers are primarily doctors with clinical experience who have years of teaching experience.
  • Each student has a designated mentor to guide them throughout the two years.
  • The revamped setup provides more flexibility for an individually tailored study plan and schedule within the two-year timeframe.
